A Hypogastric Plexus Block
is a pain management treatment, as well as a simple technique,
elected by patients who are experiencing pain at the Atlas Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine, located on Park Avenue South @31st Street in Manhattan, New
York and in Millburn, New Jersey. The hypogastric plexus is a collection of nerves that is
located near the lower part of your abdomen in the upper front of
your pelvis. A hypogastric plexus block is a specialty procedure
which involves placing an anesthetic near the region of the plexus.

patients who suffer from pelvic pain including pain of the bladder
and lower intestines. It also treats pain of the uterus, ovaries,
and vagina in women, and pain of the prostate and testicles in men.
Pain felt to originate from
any of the aforementioned structures could theoretically be treated
by blockade of this plexus. The hypogastic plexus block is performed
under CT and fluoroscopic guidance, with the needles placed anterior
to the L5-S1 junction.
